My work with African batik prints and patchwork is always a celebration of the richness of Africa.  This particular creative patchwork also has two stunning applique swifts which represent the sky, freedom of flight and the way of nature.

Valentino at Somerset House

Currently, at London's Somerset House, you can visit a rare display of Valentino's couture outfits ranging from the 1950's to 2010's, including the vintage awards gown worn by Julia Roberts to collect her 2001 Oscar.

In the final room there is the opportunity to see recordings of le regazzas, "the girls", at work, whose hand crafting go into accomplishing these couture pieces.  Such as individually making pink chiffon discs in a technique called "Pagine" which is unique to the Valentino atelier, 1000's of which go into a final signature piece as a cape (on display).
