Do you dream of bricks and mortar to sell your goods?
I would love to create a work-live space; like the little units on offshoot side streets in Montmartre, or along the narrow cobbled way in Gamla Stan - I can't resist looking in at busy creators.
I would have a huge antique closet as a centre piece, in walnut or perhaps enhance a thrift purchase in French blue or Yves Blue? A great excuse to go shopping here: Crystal Palace Antiques. With our eclectic pillows and patchwork piled high, protruding from drawers - creating a boutique environment somewhere between a north African bazaar (souk and colour bohemia ) and a latin hacienda (hot hues ):
Meanwhile, here is our Etsy store - we need to sell a few more pillows yet : )

I have mixed feelings about a B&M shop. On one hand it would be fun to have a physical shop to go to. On the other hand, all the hours and expenses involved are daunting. Online shops seem easier and less expensive.
ReplyDeleteI hope you realize your dream, it looks lovely.
mmmmmm - sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have an open studio that people could come to ... but that's a fairly distant dream for now.
A friend opened a B&M shop that was successful for a while then go out of it partly because of costs, partly because she felt anchored to it.
ReplyDeleteLosts of things to consider, costs are just one piece of the puzzle.
I love your shop pictures.
Oh, such vibrant colors...I am so drawn into your B&M shop:):)
ReplyDeleteI would definitely shop in your B&M store, but I don't think I'd ever want one of my own. I worked retail for a while right after college and I hated it. Owning the store wouldn't make enough of a difference for me.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you all more on lots of these points and it does seem online is the way to go for the future. Etsy is brilliant at making this possible.
ReplyDeleteI just love the experience still, of walking into a great boutique/ creative space - which is why I like the idea of a live - work space/ open studio so much : )
Not sure it would be for me either, as some other commenters have said, but I do see the appeal of it and enjoy visiting such places. :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your fabric you use and the items you make, the colours are so vibrant, the designs so bold. I don't think I would be able to walk past your bricks and mortar shop with out having a lingering look inside. Stunning:)
ReplyDeleteYour blog is an inspiration to me.
ReplyDeleteYour work is amazing!
awesome pictures!!! like a dream!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely walk into your store if you had this kind of stuff going on inside!! :)
